ELMIRA, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team dropped its final UCHC Conference contest of the regular season as it fell to nationally ranked No. 1 Elmira College 6-1 Saturday afternoon.

The Pioneers drop to 14-8-1 on year and wrap up UCHC play with an 11-6-1 record in league play.  UC returns to action next weekend with a home-and-home series against Wilkes College.  Utica will travel to Wilkes on Friday for a 5 p.m. faceoff before returning home on Saturday to take on the Colonels at 3 p.m.  Saturday's tilt will serve as Utica's senior game where the Pioneers will honor their seven seniors in a special pre-game ceremony.

The Soaring Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period as Eliza Beaudin broke the deadlock with 5:09 remaining in the first period on her 12th of the year.  Shannon Strawinski and Maddy Jerolman assisted on the power play tally.  Elmira extended its lead at 18:53 when Beaudin put in her second of the day, assisted by Jerolman and Emma Crocker.

Elmira added to its lead with one goal in the second period, this time coming off the stick of leading scorer Katie Granato, who put in her 24th goal of the season.  Meg Lahey assisted on the insurance tally.

The Soaring Eagles extended their lead at 6:31 of the third period as Strawinski put in one of her own, assisted by Granato.  UC finally got on the board at 9:30 of the third when senior Elizabeth Dohner (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) found the back of the net for her eighth of the season, assisted by Lexi Stanisewski (Lawrence, MA/Boston Shamrocks) and Georgiana Santullo (Woburn, MA/Boston Shamrocks/Woburn High School).  Stanisewski's helper was her team-leading 14th of the year.

Lahey capped off the scoring with 5:31 remaining in the game as she put in her third of the year.  Granato and Kristin Chivers registered assists on the play.
