Utica, NY – The Utica College men's lacrosse team will be at home on Monday to host Hamilton College for the 9
th Annual Contineer Cup. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
Contineer Cup: 2019 will mark the ninth straight year that the Pioneers will face-off against nearby Hamilton College (Clinton, NY) for the Contineer Cup. Last year's matchup resulted in an 18-5 win for the Continentals over UC. Hamilton has been victorious and kept possession of the Contineer Cup in eight straight meetings since the rivalry game earned its namesake back in 2011.
Vs. Cancer: The Utica College men's lacrosse team has teamed up with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation's Vs. Cancer program to support the many children fighting this terrible disease. Throughout the season, the team is raising awareness and funds for local kids with cancer, and they will celebrate their efforts during Monday's game against Hamilton. Visit Fundraising

Last Time Out: In their last outing, the Pioneers surged past SUNY Potsdam with nine second half goals to secure the 13-8 win.
James Daniele (Pleasantville, NY/Pleasantville) and
Dale Wagner (Elbridge, NY/Jordan Elbridge) both recorded two goals and one assist.
John Avery (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon),
Tyler Giachinta (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane), and
Jared Smaldon (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) each finished with two scores, while
John Hanlon (Coconut Creek, FL/St. John Paul Academy) had one goal and three assists. Goalkeeper
Harrison Bower (Northport, NY/Kings Park) came up with some crucial saves, tallying 15 stops in net in the win.
Strong Production: Dylan Dunham (Elbridge, NY/Jordan Elbridge) and
John Hanlon (Coconut Creek, FL/St. John Paul Academy) are leading the way for the UC offense early on this season. Dunham is tops on the squad with eight goals in the first three games, and teammate
John Avery (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon) is right behind him with seven scores. Hanlon has shown great vision and passing thus far with his team-high eight assists.
Defensive Hustle: Freshman
Kevin Parisi (Glenwood, NY/Vernon Township) has been solid to start his collegiate career on the defensive end with toughness and effort. Parisi has scooped up 15 ground balls and caused nine turnovers, leading UC in both statistical categories.
Nick Alexander (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) has also demonstrated strong effort on defense, tallying 11 ground balls and five caused turnovers.
Bower in Net: Harrison Bower (Northport, NY/Kings Park), the senior goalkeeper, is 2-1 in his three starts this season. Bower has faced a total of 112 shots during his time in the crease. He has allowed 32 goals and made 36 saves so far, earning a saves percentage of 52.9%.
Looking at Hamilton: The Continentals enter Monday's contest with a 1-1 overall record, after recently defeating Colby College, 17-9. The team is currently scoring an average of 14 goals a game early in the year and are taking 49 shots per game. Henry Hunt is proven to be a scoring threat, leading the way with eight goals while teammate Chad Morse has recorded seven scores. Goalkeeper Max Scheidl is 1-1 in two starts in net, and has come up with 30 saves.
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers will be on the road for its next game, traveling to take on Marywood University down in Scranton, PA. The matchup will take place on Wednesday, beginning at 2 p.m.
