TROY, NY- The Utica College women's lacrosse team jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as it cruised to a 22-0 victory over The Sage Colleges in Empire 8 Conference action Wednesday afternoon. The win marked the 100
th career victory for Head Coach
Kristin St. Hilaire, all of which came at Utica College.
The Pioneers also improve upon their program-best start, moving to 8-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. Utica will look to carry its momentum into a showdown against Empire 8 foe Nazareth College on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
St. Hilaire, who is the winningest coach in program history, has now guided Utica to eight consecutive seasons at .500 or above. She led the 2018 version of the Pioneers to the Empire 8 Tournament for the first time in 12 years. Additionally, this year's squad needs just two more wins to match the program's single-season win record of 10.
Senior
Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) led Utica with three goals and one assist on the day to reach to 100-point plateau for her career. Scarpinella now has 102 points (68 goals, 34 assists) in 43 games played. Freshman
Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) chipped in with three assists and added a team-high seven draw controls and five ground balls.
Katie McDowell (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) and
Sinead Bonner (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) each had two goals and one assist, while
Hailee DuMont (Wilkes-Barre, PA/James M. Coughlin),
Kristin Krieg (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland),
Emily Rossi (Verona, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill), and
Noelle Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford) each had two goals to their credit.

Hannah Koster (Oswego, NY/Oswego),
Stephanie Husnay (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro),

Addison Green (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro), and
Hannah Nordstrom (Fairhaven, MA/Fairhaven) also contributed goals in the win, while
Brittany Nowak (Eden, NY/Eden) registered one helper.
Junior
Hali Vandermeulen (Walden, NY/Valley Central) made one save in the shutout victory, while Marina Azab and Carly Plaisance combined for nine saves in net for Sage. Vandermeulen's .582 save percentage leads the Empire 8 and ranks sixth nationally.
Utica was 8-for-8 on clear attempts while holding the Gators to just 5-of-23. UC also picked up 19 of a possible 24 draw controls and caused 16 turnovers in the win.
