Utica, NY – The Utica College baseball team will finish up its regular season with a three game road trip filled with E8 opponents. UC starts at St. John Fisher on Friday at 4 p.m., then heads to Ithaca for a 1 p.m. start on Saturday, and finally wrapping up the season at 1 p.m. on Sunday against Elmira.
Earlier This Week: The Pioneers played three games prior to this upcoming, busy weekend. They took care of business against Canton in E8 play, thanks to a walk off single by
Daryl Savage (Elmira, NY/Elmira) and solid pitching. The two wins picked up against Canton secured Utica a spot in the Empire 8 Tournament. The team also faced Hamilton College in the annual Jackie Robinson Game, losing 8-3 on the road.
E8 Tournament Berth: UC is currently 8-6 in conference play and is presently looking at entering the E8 Tournament as the number four seed. It has been three years since the team has qualified for postseason play, with its last conference tournament appearance coming in 2016. Utica defeated the top seeded St. John Fisher Cardinals, 7-3, in game one of the tournament, but then fell in the next two contests.

nd annual Jackie Robinson Game between Utica College and Hamilton College,
Christopher Ramsundar (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) was chosen as UC's Most Valuable Player on the day. The junior infielder was 1-for-5 at the plate with one RBI, coming by way of a double in the seventh inning. He continues to produce for UC this season with career-highs of 20 hits and six RBI's after recording three hits and no RBI's last year.
Conference Standings: As the regular season comes to a halt Utica finds itself fourth in the Empire 8 standings. Here are the full conference standings: 1. Ithaca (15-2 E8), 2. Stevens (12-5 E8), 3. Fisher (11-4 E8), 4. Utica (8-6 E8), 5. Houghton (5-10 E8), 6. Elmira (4-12 E8), 7. Canton (1-17 E8).
Scouting Fisher: The Cardinals are 25-10 overall and 11-4 in conference play, and have secured the third seed for the upcoming E8 Tournament. Fisher is 13-0 at home and is riding the momentum of a seven-game win streak. Friday's game will finish up a three game series between Fisher and Utica, as the Cardinals are aiming to complete a full sweep after winning the first two.
Scouting Ithaca: The Ithaca College Bombers are sitting comfortable atop the conference standings with a 27-7 overall record and a 15-2 mark inside the Empire 8. The Bombers took games one and two of this three-game, conference series earlier in the season. Utica looks to avoid a sweep and interrupt Ithaca's eight-game win streak heading into the postseason.
Scouting Elmira: The Soaring Eagles own an overall record of 7-27 and are 3-13 against Empire 8 opponents. Elmira has struggled at home this season, going only 2-12 on its home field. The team most recently defeated Keuka College earlier in the week, 8-7.
What's Next: The Pioneers will now prepare for their first round matchup of the Empire 8 Tournament, host team Ithaca College. The tournament will begin on Thursday, May 9
th with game one starting at 12 p.m.
