Pittsford, NY – The Utica College baseball team faced St. John Fisher for an E8 matchup on Friday. The Cardinals earned an 8-1 victory, as UC drops to 14-20 overall and 8-7 in conference play.
Matthew Fitzgerald (Clinton, NY/Notre Dame) made contact for two hits in his four at bats on the day.
Tim Quinlan (Monroe, CT/Masuck) went 1-for-4 with a double, while
Matthew Leviton (South River, NJ/South River) was 1-for-2.
Christopher Ramsundar (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) also registered a hit in the contest, batting 1-for-5 in the game.
Haydn Demers-St. Hilaire (North Lawrence, NY/St. Lawrence Central) (L, 0-1) was given the losing decision on the mound as the starter in this one. He pitched for three innings, giving up five runs on five hits.
Timothy Horodnick (Durhamville, NY/VVS) and
Brian Dinnen (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) came into the contest in relief later on to combine for five full innings pitched.
St. John Fisher jumped out to an early advantage, with a four-run inning in the second. The Pioneers would get on the board in the third but could not keep up with the fire power of the Cardinals.
UC is back on the road Saturday for an Empire 8 matchup with Ithaca College. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
