UC Set for First 2019 Road Trip Against Houghton, Plattsburgh

Utica, NY - The Utica College women's tennis team is scheduled for a two-game road trip this weekend, facing Houghton on Saturday and Plattsburgh State on Sunday. Both matches are slated for a 1 p.m. start.

Last time out: The Pioneers dominated their first match of the year against Delhi , winning by a convincing 8-1 decision. The Pioneers won five of the six singles matches, with victories from freshmen Morgan Willis (), Sabrina Pin () and Camryn Sullivan (), as well as junior Bianca Bockhaus (Shenorock, NY/Somers) and sophomore Selma Ahmetasevic (Utica, NY/T.R. Proctor).

UC also dominated all three doubles matches as well. Junior Madeline McIlnay (York, PA/York Suburban) and Morgan Willis () took first doubles by a score of 8-6. Pin and Sullivan kept pace in second doubles with a 8-3 win, and Brockhaus and Ahmetasevic recorded the most convincing doubles victory with an 8-2 win.

Scouting Houghton: The highlanders finished the 2018 season with an overall record of 5-10, and they have split their matchups to start 2019, winning the first match of the year against Oswego (5-4) and dropping their last match to Cortland (7-2).

Scouting Plattsburgh State: The Cardinals have accumulated a 2-2 record for far in 2019, with big 9-0 wins over Castleton University and Northern Vermont University-Johnson and losses to Farmingdale State (9-0) and SUNY New Paltz (6-3).
