Utica, NY - The Utica College women's tennis team will host St John Fisher at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18. This marks the Pioneers' fourth match of the year and their second time at home to start the 2019 season.
Strong Start: The Pioneers currently sit at 1-2, with the first win of the season coming in the team's home opener against SUNY Delhi. UC topped the Broncos by a convincing 8-1 score, winning five of the six singles matches. Freshmen

Bianca Bockhaus (Shenorock, NY/Somers) and sophomore
Selma Ahmetasevic (Utica, NY/T.R. Proctor).
UC also dominated all three doubles matches as well. Junior
Madeline McIlnay (York, PA/York Suburban) and Willis took first doubles by a score of 8-6. Pin and Sullivan kept pace in second doubles with a 8-3 win, and Bockhaus and Ahmetasevic recorded the most convincing doubles victory with an 8-2 win.
UC Female Athlete of the Week: Bianca Bockhaus (Shenorock, NY/Somers) received UC Female Athlete of the Week honors for her stellar performances in the first week of the season. Bockhaus was perfect in the first match against SUNY Delhi, winning fifth singles and third doubles. She picked up right where she left off in the next match against Houghton, recording the lone win for the Pioneers in sixth singles
Scouting St. John Fisher: The Cardinals currently sit at 2-2 thus far, and lost their last match to Brockport by a 5-4 decision. Last season, Fisher ended the year with a 9-7 overall record and they fell to Stevens in the Empire 8 championship.Â
Up Next: The Pioneers will travel back on the road this Saturday against Alfred University before returning home on Sunday to host SUNY Oswego. Both matches are slated for a 1 p.m. start.
