UTICA, NY- The Utica College field hockey team put up a valiant effort, but was thwarted by nationally ranked No. 19 Colby College 3-0 in non-conference action Sunday afternoon.  Sophomore goalie Megan Chamberlain (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) had an impressive showing as she stopped a career-high 25 shots.
 
The Mules got off to a quick start as they scored the opening goal just 4:06 into play as Eliza Mell fired a shot that Chamberlain got a piece of but the ball just barely rolled over the goal line to put the visitors up 1-0.  Colby scored again just 2:31 later as Georgia Cassidy rifled in a long shot for her sixth of the season.
 
Colby added an insurance tally at 38:59 when Hwida Nawass buried her own rebound for her first of the season.
 
This marks the fourth time this season that Chamberlain had made at least 10 saves.  Her counterpart, Emily Buckman had eight save sin net for Colby.
 
The Pioneers return to action Saturday as they host Sage for an Empire 8 Conference match up.  Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
