Women's Tennis Set to Host Medaille

Utica, NY - The Utica College women's tennis team is slated for game three of its four-game homestand against the Medaille College Mavericks on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

Clean Sweep: The Utica College women's tennis team topped the SUNY Delhi Broncos by a score of 8-1 to notch its second win of the season last Wednesday. The Pioneers took all six singles matches, with victories from seniors Madeline McIlnay (York, PA/York Suburban) and Bianca Bockhaus (Shenorock, NY/Somers), freshmen Morgan Willis (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury), Camryn Sullivan (Camden, NY/Camden) and Emily DePasquale (Holland Patent, NY/Holland Patent), as well as junior Elma Selimovic (Utica, NY/T.R. Proctor). UC also won two of the three doubles matches, with Willis and Sullivan taking second doubles and Selimovic and Depasquale taking third. This marked the Pioneers' second win of the year over Delhi, as they advanced to 2-5 thus far in 2019.

Where There's a Willis, There's a Way: Freshman Morgan Willis (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) has been very impressive so far this season, notching her first collegiate win against SUNY Oswego last week in second singles. Willis is also the only Pioneer to notch wins in her last two matches against Delhi and Sage.

Scouting Medaille: The Mavericks sport an impressive 7-1 record so far, and their sole loss of the season came in their last match against Franciscan College by a score of 8-1. Medaille finished 2018 with an overall record of 9-5, and it returned all but two players to this year's team as well.

Inaugural Matchup: These two teams have never played each other in program history, so this marks the first time they will see each other on the court.

Up Next: The Pioneers finish out their four-game home stand this Sunday, as they will host Hartwick College at 1 p.m.
