ROCHESTER, NY- The Utica college volleyball team dropped the opening game of the Rochester Invitational Friday evening as it fell to Capital University 3-0 in non-conference action.

Newcomers led the Utica attack as sophomore transfer
Caitlyn Curcurito (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa), and freshmen
Eleanor Cepiel (West Sand Lake, NY/Academy of Holy Names) and
Alicja Swiechowska (Carmel, NY/Carmel) totaled five kills apiece.Â
Jenna Prewasnicak (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) and
Loryn Wilcox (Canastota, NY/Canastota) aided the offense with nine assists each.Â

Defensively, freshman
Cameron Boehlert (Utica, NY/Whitesboro ) had a team-best 12 digs, while
Meaghan Romaguera (Stone Ridge, NY/Rondout) had five digs, and Prewasnicak chipped in with three.Â
Rosemarie Fesko (Goshen, NY/Central),
Lindsey Hannel (Victor, NY/Victor), and Swiechowska registered two blocks each on the evening.

The Pioneers look to rebound Saturday as they face SUNY Cortland (11 a.m.) and Buffalo State (1 p.m.)
