UTICA, NY- The Utica College men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie against SUNY Cobleskill in non-conference action Sunday afternoon.

After nearly 85 minutes of scoreless action, SUNY Cobleskill broke the deadlock as Chris Gardener scored his first of the year. On a quick rush, a Fighting Tiger was hauled down at the top of the box, resulting in a penalty kick. Gardener buried his shot to give the visitors a 1-0 lead with 5:20 remaining.Â

Utica was able to even the score in the 88
th minute when
Thomas Muller (Camillus, NY/Bishop Ludden) headed home a centering feed by
Patrick Hynes (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem) for his first of the year.Â

Despite 20 minutes of extra time, neither team was able to get the winner as the game ended in a 1-1 tie. Junior
Randy Miksch (Lake Villa, IL/Warren Township) made five saves for the Pioneers, while Rashawn Best had seven saves for Cobleskill.

The Pioneers return to action Saturday as they host Clarkson. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
