ELMIRA, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team capped off the regular season Sunday with a 2-0 loss to nationally ranked No. 5 Elmira College in United Collegiate Hockey Conference action.
 
Despite outshooting the home team 12-11 in the first period, it was Elmira that went into the locker room with a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.  Emma Crocker got things going at 8:56 of the first period as she put in a feed from Morgan Mordini and Bella Hanson for her 17
th goal of the year.  The Soaring Eagles struck again at 11:24 when Ronnie Callahan netted her third of the season off assists from Claire Meeder and Holley Riva.
 
The home team essentially shutdown the Utica offense over the final two periods, outshooting UC 31-6 over the final 40 minutes of play. 
 
Sophomore 
Savannah Gutierrez (Huntington Beach, CA/Anaheim Lady Ducks) had arguably the best showing of her career as she made 40 saves to keep the Pioneers in the game.  Her counterpart, Elizabeth Hanson, finished with 18 saves for Elmira.
 
The Pioneers have clinched a postseason appearance for the 18
th time in the program's 19-year history. Utica will meet the Soaring Eagles in the UCHC quarterfinals next weekend. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday.
