Nicolette Conkin (Los Altos, CA/Homestead) of the Utica College women's basketball team was named to the Empire 8 Conference All-Tournament team after her impressive showing in the conference semifinal last Friday.
Conkin, who was recently named both the Empire 8 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, went out with a bang as she netted a career-high 37 points in Utica's semifinal loss to Sage. She was just five points shy of the conference's single-game point record.
Conkin wraps up her senior season ranked fourth nationally in both assists (177) and assists per game (6.8). She ranks first in UC's single-season record book for assists per game, and she is second in total assists. For her career, Conkin is third in program history with 372 assists and she is fifth in assists per game (3.8).
The Pioneers finished the season with a 15-11 overall record and an 8-6 mark in the Empire 8 Conference. Utica made its first postseason appearance since the 2010-11 season, locking up the No. 3 seed in E8 Tournament. UC fell to Sage 82-75 in the conference semifinal.
