ELMIRA, NY- The Utica College women's soccer team picked up a crucial 1-0 win over Elmira College in Empire 8 Conference action Saturday.

With the win, Utica improves to 3-2 in the conference (7-5 overall). The Pioneers are currently tied for third in the E8 standings with nine points. UC will look to carry its momentum into a road match at Keuka College on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.

Sydney Cook (Waterville, NY/Waterville) netted her fifth of the season.

Cook's tally proved to be enough as the Pioneers defense led by
Courtney Connolly (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) shut the door. Connolly finished with four saves for her second shutout of the season. Her counterpart, Nevaeh Winston made eight saves for Elmira.Â
