Last Time Out: The Pioneers enter this match 7-5 (3-2 E8) after a pivotal Empire 8 victory over Elmira College, 1-0. In this E8 matchup, UC was able to outshoot the Soaring Eagles 17-7 including nine in the first half. 26 minutes into the match, Sydney Cook (Waterville, NY/Waterville) netted an unassisted goal to put the Pioneers in the lead. From there, goalkeeper Courtney Connolly (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) finished the job completing her second shutout of the season while recording four saves.

Cook up the Assists: Graduate student Sydney Cook (Waterville, NY/Waterville) has quietly been pushing her way into the single season record books. On the season, Cook has a team-high five assists placing her fourth in the Empire 8. With her most recent assist against St. John Fisher, she tied her record from 2019 for fifth most assists in a single season. Cook now sits just three assists from surpassing UC greats in Mary Castle, Danielle Smith, and Amy Bell for the all-time single season record in Utica College program history.

Shoot at Will: As the Pioneers hit the final stretch of the regular season, they continue to flex their muscles with superb shooting ability. With just four games remaining, the Pioneers are tied for second in the Empire 8 with 9.42 shots on goal per game. There have been 20 different Pioneers who have found a way to put a shot on goal with senior Ro Hernandez (Carmel, NY/Kennedy Catholic) leading the team with 35.

In Connolly We Trust: Over the past four games, sophomore Courtney Connolly (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) has 39 saves off 47 shots on goals including her second shutout on the season. Connolly has been an anchor for the Pioneers having a .823 save percentage. She currently stands second in the E8 with 7.90 saves per game and moves to fifth in shutouts on the season.

Meeting History: This matchup will mark the 14th time the two teams have faced off. However, this will be the first time the teams have played each other while both being members of the Empire 8 Conference. Coming into this matchup, the Pioneers are winners in five of the last six between the teams. Their last meeting with the Wolves was back in 2019 with a 2-0 shutout victory where UC outshot the Wolves 22-9. This included shots by both Sydney Cook (Waterville, NY/Waterville) and Hope Millets (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) and an assist off the foot of Eliza Ericson (Beacon, NY/Beacon).

Scouting the Wolves: The Wolves of Keuka College enter this game coming off their first ever Empire 8 conference win over Houghton College, 3-0. Now sitting at 2-10-2 (1-3-1 E8), the Wolves continue to look towards sophomore Grace DeCapua who found her fourth goal on the season in their win over the Highlanders. Just behind her with two goals are freshmen Lindsey Garbacz and Peyton  Miller. Garbacz enters this match currently ranked tenth in the E8 in shots on goal.

Up Next: Following this matchup, the Pioneers will return home for Senior Day to face Russell Sage College on Saturday, October 23 at noon.
