Women's Soccer Scores Early and Often to Down Elmira

UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's soccer team cruised to a 6-0 win over visiting Elmira College in a designated non-conference game Sunday afternoon.  Senior Kierra Caissey (Gardner, MA/Gardner) led the way with two goals for the Pioneers.

Utica opened the scoring just 38 seconds in as junior transfer Hillaria Hernandez (Carmel, NY/Kennedy Catholic) netted her first goal in a Pioneer uniform off a feed from Jacinta Kaminski (Holland Patent, NY/Holland Patent).  Kaminski played a great ball to Hernandez on the right side of the box.  Hernandez fired a shot off her right foot that bounced off the left post and in.

UC scored another tally just over three minutes later as senior Kierra Caissey (Gardner, MA/Gardner) won a battle for a loose ball from 25 yards out and fired a shot into the top right corner for her second of the year.

Haley Harrington (Munnsville, NY/Stockbridge Valley) netted her first of the year in the 27th minute off an assist by Hernandez and Caissey tacked on her second of the day with 3:41 remaining in the half.

The Pioneers used goals by Kaela Mochak (Westfield, MA/Westfield) and Hope Millets (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) in the second half to seal the victory.  Both Mochak and Millets' tallies were their first collegiate goals.

Junior Emily Hill (Watertown, CT/Watertown) made three saves in the shutout, while Cassidy Buchman finished with five saves for the Soaring Eagles.

Utica (2-2, 1-2 Empire 8) will return to action Friday as it travels to Houghton College. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
