Women's Lacrosse Handles Houghton

HOUGHTON, NY- The Utica College women's lacrosse team used 11 different goal scorers to cruise to a 21-1 win over host Houghton College in Empire 8 Conference action Saturday afternoon.
 
The Pioneers have now won three in a row and five of their last six.  UC will carry its momentum into a midweek showdown at SUNY Canton on Wednesday.  Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
 
Utica led 14-0 after the first half and added seven more scores in the second half to improve to 3-1 in E8 conference play. Junior Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) led UC with seven points on the day on four goals and three assists, and she also had 11 draw controls.  Scaccia now has 166 draw controls in her career and needs just four more to move into third place on the College's all-time list. 
 
Freshman Alyssa Drell (Mastic, NY/William Floyd) had a breakout game as she netted a season-high four goals.  Drell has eight points (seven goals, one assist) in her last three games. Classmate Devin Ryan (Orchard Park, NY/Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart) chipped in with two goals, two draw controls, and two ground balls, while sophomore Samantha DeCondo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) also had two goals and two ground balls.
 
Junior Katherine Migliori (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) had a career-best four points on the day (two goals, two assists) and senior Stephanie Husnay (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) also finished with four points on one goal and three assists.  Freshmen Tracy Moreno (Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove) and Katie Crofoot (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) each had three points to their credit, and Kristin Krieg (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland), Alyssa Pisano (Hopewell Junction, NY/Arlington), and Mackenzie Keane (Newfoundland, NJ/West Milford) also scored.
 
Claire Frier (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette) finished with two saves in net.
