CANTON, NY- The Utica College women's lacrosse team picked up its fourth straight win as it downed host SUNY Canton 21-3 Wednesday afternoon. This marks the second consecutive game that Utica has scored more than 20 goals.
The Pioneers have now won six of their last seven. They will look to carry their momentum into a big Empire 8 Conference tilt against Nazareth College on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
Utica jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first 11:08 of play and went on to take a 13-2 lead into halftime. The Pioneers kept up the pressure in the second half, outscoring the 'Roos 8-1 over the final 30 minutes.
Sophomore
Samantha DeCondo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) led the Pioneers with five points on the day (four goals, one assist). She now has 15 points in her last three games. Junior
Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) also had four goals for Utica to extend her goal-scoring streak to 14 games.
Senior
Lauren Wolff (Peabody, MA/Peabody) finished with two goals and two assists. Wolff currently has 55 assists in her career and she needs just two more assists to move into a tie with Tammy Kohanski '11 for third place on the College's all-time list.
Addison Green (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro),
Alyssa Pisano (Hopewell Junction, NY/Arlington), and
Tracy Moreno (Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove) each had two goals to their credit, with Moreno dishing out an assist as well. Senior
Stephanie Husnay (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) had one goal and two assists to move into sole possession of second all-time on the College's career assists list (59).
Devin Ryan (Orchard Park, NY/Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart),
Kristin Krieg (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland), and
Mackenzie Keane (Newfoundland, NJ/West Milford) each had one goal, as did freshman
Mara Cunningham (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury), marking her first collegiate goal.
Claire Frier (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette),
Shaylynn Palmer (Kirkville, NY/East Syracuse Minoa), and
Savanna Thomas (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) all saw action in net, with Frier earning the win.
