UTICA, NY - The Utica College men's lacrosse team kicks off a five-game homestand as it hosts SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.

Last Time Out: Utica suffered its first loss of the season at Alfred University on Saturday, losing 12-8 in Empire 8 Conference play. Despite falling 3-0 early in the first quarter, UC battled its way back to end the first quarter tied at 4-4. Alfred pulled away with an 8-5 lead going into halftime. The Pioneers got within two goals going into the fourth quarter, but a last surge of energy helped the Saxons seal the deal. Five Pioneers found the back of the net on Saturday -
James Daniele (Pleasantville, NY/Pleasantville) (three goals),
Chase Kaufman (Atlanta, GA/Riverside Military Academy ) (two goals),
Jacob Hyer (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro),
John Avery (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon), and
Gage Fiacco (Massena, NY/Massena). Four players picked up assists -
Sam Serrano (Stone Ridge, NY/Roundout Valley), Avery, Hyer, and Daniele (two). Sophomore goalkeeper
Jozef Korpics (Center Valley, PA/Moravian Academy) made 15 saves in the loss.

Daniele Continues: Junior midfielder
James Daniele (Pleasantville, NY/Pleasantville) had another big point day, after he led the team on Saturday with three goals and two assists, for five points. Daniele extends his goal-scoring streak to 11 games, dating back to the last game of the 2019 season. He leads the team in points (20) and assists (nine), and he is third on the squad with 11 goals. Daniele is currently third in the conference with 1.80 assists per game, fourth in points per game (4.00), and eighth in goals per game (2.20).

Count On Korpics: Sophomore
Jozef Korpics (Center Valley, PA/Moravian Academy) has been rock solid in net this season. Korpics ranks second in the E8 with a .630 save percentage and he is third in goals against average (8.22) and saves per game (13.6). He has made more than ten saves in each of his last six outings.Â

Kaufman Keeps It Coming: Freshman attacker
Chase Kaufman (Atlanta, GA/Riverside Military Academy ) stretches his goal-scoring streak to three games after scoring two goals in Saturday's game. Kaufman is currently fifth on the team with nine goals and one assist for 10 points.

Avery On The Attack: Junior attacker
John Avery (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon) found the back of the net for the third game in a row, after scoring in the last minute of the first quarter. Daniele assisted on the play. Avery is second on the team with 12 goals and three assists for 15 points. He has picked up 10 ground balls and caused four turnovers. Avery is currently seventh in the conference in goals per game(2.40).

Defensive Duo: Freshman
Ethan Brown (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) and junior
Kevin Parisi (Glenwood, NJ/Vernon Township) led the UC defense with two caused turnovers a piece. Brown has picked up eight ground balls and caused six turnovers this season. Parisi has picked up 24 ground balls and caused 22 turnovers. Parisi leads the conference in caused turnovers per game (4.40), and he is sixth for ground balls per game (4.80).
