Scaccia Nets 100th Career Point as Women's Lacrosse Downs Canton

UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's lacrosse team ran away with a 16-3 win against visiting SUNY Canton in a non-conference matinee Friday afternoon.  The day was highlighted by junior Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) netting her 100th career point.

The Pioneers jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of play, thanks in part to three goals and two assists by Scaccia.  The junior midfielder finished the day with nine points on six goals and three assists. She was just one point shy of matching the program record for points in a single game (10), which is currently held by Casey Pelletier '08.

Senior Stephanie Husnay (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) finished with five points on the day (two goals and three assists) and Samantha DeCondo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) found the back of the net twice as well. Alyssa Pisano (Hopewell Junction, NY/Arlington), Kristin Krieg (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland), Addison Green (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro), Emily Rossi (Verona, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill), and Alyssa Drell (Mastic, NY/William Floyd) each had one goal.  Drell and senior Lauren Wolff (Peabody, MA/Peabody) were also credited with one assist apiece.  Wolff now needs just one more point to reach the 100-point mark for her career.  Freshman Devin Ryan (Orchard Park, NY/Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart) netted her first collegiate goal off a free position.  Pisano meanwhile had a season-high 10 draw controls and she also led the squad with four ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Claire Frier (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette) and Savanna Thomas (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) each registered one save in net.

The Pioneers (3-4) return to action Saturday as they host Alfred University.  Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
