Wolff Nets 100th Point as Women's Lax Wallops 'Wick

ONEONTA, NY- Just one game after Utica celebrated junior Lexi Scaccia's (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) 100th career point, senior Lauren Wolff (Peabody, MA/Peabody) recorded her 100th career point to help lead the Pioneers to a 16-8 win over Hartwick College in Empire 8 action Wednesday afternoon.

Wolff exploded for a career-high six goals in the rout of the Hawks.  Wolff now has 105 points (53 goals, 52 assists) to her credit in 46 career games played at UC.

Hartwick jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 6:23 of play, but the Pioneers responded to score 10 straight goals, including eight in the first half to take command of the game.  Utica outscored Hartwick 8-6 in the second half to come away with the victory.

Sophomore Samantha DeCondo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) also had a breakout as she had a career-high five goals and seven points on the day.  Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and Alyssa Drell (Mastic, NY/William Floyd) each had two goals and Addison Green (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) chipped in with one of her own.

Wolff and freshman Aana Blaszka (Hampstead, NH/Pinkerton Academy) led the squad with six ground balls each, while Scaccia and freshman Alyssa Pisano (Hopewell Junction, NY/Arlington) combined for ten draw controls.

Claire Frier (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette) made 11 saves in net for Utica, while her counterpart, Jennifer Paszko made 13 saves in the loss.

The Pioneers (4-4, 2-1 Empire 8) look to carry their momentum into a pair of E8 contests this weekend.  UC will travel to Houghton on Saturday (3:30 p.m.) before returning home on Sunday to face Alfred (4 p.m.).
