DeCondo's Dominance Leads Utica to Win Over Keuka

KEUKA PARK, NY- The Utica College women's lacrosse team used 11 goals in each half to down host Keuka College 22-2 in Empire 8 Conference play Tuesday evening.  With the win, the Pioneers locked up the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament and will be advancing to the postseason for the third straight year.
 
Sophomore Samantha DeCondo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) had a breakout game as she finished with a career-high seven goals on the night.  DeCondo has now scored in nine straight games and she has netted 20 goals in her last five games. 
 
Senior Stephanie Husnay (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) matched her season-high with four assists on the evening, while classmate Lauren Wolff (Peabody, MA/Peabody) finished with five points (two goals, three assists).  Junior Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) chipped in with three goals and one assist to her credit, as well as causing a team-high four turnovers and scooping up three ground balls.
 
Freshmen Katie Crofoot (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) and Alyssa Drell (Mastic, NY/William Floyd) each contributed three goals and senior Brittany Nowak (Eden, NY/Eden) netted her first two goals of the season.  Freshman Devin Ryan (Orchard Park, NY/Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart) and sophomore Lila Allison (Loudonville, NY/Shaker) also found the back of the net for the Pioneers. 
 
Claire Frier (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette), Savanna Thomas (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro), and Shaylynn Palmer (Kirkville, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) all saw action in goal, with Frier earning the win as she turned aside four shots in just over 45 minutes of work.
 
The Pioneers (7-5, 4-2 Empire 8) will travel to Elmira College on Saturday in their final tune-up before next week's conference tournament.  Game time is set for 1 p.m.
