Utica, NY - The Utica College baseball team wraps up its regular season this weekend with a full slate of conference games. After some changes to the schedule, UC will travel to Houghton on Friday, May 7th for a single game at 2 p.m.. The Pioneers return home on Saturday to take on Elmira rather than doing so on Sunday when the game was originally scheduled. Utica will then finish the regular season at home on Sunday when they make up the doubleheader against St. John Fisher that was rained out on May 2nd.

Last Time Out: The Pioneers completed a sweep over Elmira on Thursday afternoon with a 14-3 game one win followed by a 15-1 game two win.
Daniel Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) and
James Roeschlaub (Auburn, NY/Auburn HS) each tossed complete games while the offensive production from top to bottom was on full display.
Empire 8 Implications: While Fisher has already clinched the top-seed in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament, the two-seed is still up for grabs. UC and Houghton are the only two teams that can secure the sport as Elmira and Keuka are mathematically unable to do so. If UC can defeat Houghton and Elmira the team will lock up the two seed and home field regardless of Sunday's outcomes against Fisher. However, if Houghton defeats the Pioneers they will have the edge in terms of home field and UC would need to win its final three games to ensure games one and two of the best-of-three semifinal series are in Utica.
Houghton Update: The Highlanders (18-12, 10-9 E8) are coming off of a 21-0 loss to Fisher on Thursday. Today's game against UC will be the final game of their regular season and just like the Pioneers, Houghton is playing with a chance to secure the two-seed and home field in next weekend's semifinals. The offense features former E8 player of the week, Wayne Rode, who leads the team with a .436 batting average, four home runs and 30 RBIs.
Hello Again: Elmira (5-26, 3-14 E8) will have Friday off before traveling back to Utica on Saturday to take on the Pioneers for the third time in as many days. The Eagles were outscored 29-4 by UC over 13 total innings on Thursday while allowing the Pioneers to record 27 hits to their eight.
Redo With Fisher: After having their way with Houghton, Fisher (26-5, 16-1 E8) will play one game against Keuka on Saturday before Sunday's makeup doubleheader in Utica. In the 21-0 win over the Highlanders, Adam Zebrowski, the leading hitter in the conference, not only broke Fisher's single-season home run record, but he also moved into a tie for first in all of Division III with 15 home runs this season. UC is still the only team to hand the Cardinals a conference loss this season.
Up Next: UC has already clinched a first round bye in the Empire 8 tournament and will prepare to play the best-of-three semifinals against Houghton. However, the home team of that series will be decided after the weekend unfolds.
