FREDONIA, NY- The Utica College women's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season, falling to host Fredonia 2-1 in non-conference action on Saturday.

Ro Hernandez (Carmel, NY/Kennedy Catholic) put Utica on the board in the third minute with her team-leading fourth goal of the year. Hernandez has now scored in each of UC's three games so far this season.

The Blue Devils responded at 13:33 as Jordan Barrett netted her first of the season off an assist by Nicki Barlow. The score remained the same until the 52
nd minute when Barlow netted one of her own, an unassisted tally for her first of the year.

Sophomore
Courtney Connolly (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) made ten saves in her first game action of the season, while Fredonia's Sabrina Suriani finished with five saves in the win.

The Pioneers return to action Tuesday as they host SUNY Potsdam for their 2021 home opener. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
