Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Lopsided Win Keeps Field Hockey Unbeaten in Conference Play

UTICA, NY - The Utica College field hockey team remained perfect in Empire 8 play this season after a controlling 8-0 over the Sage Gators at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Sabrina Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) cashed in a goal just over 1 minute into the game as Emily Frank (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) found a tight window to squeeze the ball into Whitehouse for a close shot to put the Pioneers up 1-0. Utica went on to score four more times in the half to take a 5-0 lead into the locker room.

UC added three more goals in the second half to take the lopsided game 8-0 to move to 3-0 in conference play. Megan Chamberlain (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) and Lyla Cushman (Holland Patent, NY/Holland Patent) had the easiest day one could ask for in goal as the Gators were held to 0 shot attempts throughout the entirety of the game while the Pioneers attempted 57 shots on the night.

Whitehouse scored three times for Utica while Madeline Krecidlo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) netted two goals to go with one assist. Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro), Sydney Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and Shannon Jedreicich (Deer Park, NY/Half Hollow Hills East) each had one. Emily Frank (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) and Mackenzie Mix (Camden, NY/Camden) had one assist each.

UC (4-4, 3-0 Empire 8) returns to the field on September 29 as the team hosts Oswego St. at 7 p.m.
