Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Cruises Past MCLA

NORTH ADAMS, MA- The Utica College women's soccer team used two goals in each half to down host Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts 4-0 in non-conference action Tuesday evening.  Senior Sydney Cook (Waterville, NY/Waterville) led the Pioneers with two goals on the day.

Senior Ro Hernandez (Carmel, NY/Kennedy Catholic) got things going in the 29th minute as she netted her third of the year, assisted by Jenna Keeman (Douglas, MA/Douglas).  Cook netted her first of the day as she buried a feed from Hope Millets (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) in the 37th minute to give Utica a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

Cook extended UC's lead at 57:19 when she controlled a long pass by Eliza Ericson (Beacon, NY/Beacon) and played it inside the left post for her third of the season.  Cook now has eight points in the first two games of the season.

Utica capped off the scoring at 79:06 when Katherine Migliori (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) controlled a pass from Kiersten Girard (St. Albert, Alberta/Bellerose Composite) at the top left corner of the box and quickly turned and fired a shot that sailed over the keeper's head for her first of the season.  The assist marked Girard's first collegiate point.

Freshman Karen Troche (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) turned aside all three shots she faced to pick up her second straight shutout.

The Pioneers have now outscored their opponents 9-0 through the first two games of the season.  They look to carry that momentum into the Blue Devil Classic at Fredonia this weekend.  Utica takes on Oswego State in the opening game Friday at 1 p.m.
