NORTH ADAMS, MA- The Utica College women's soccer team used two goals in each half to down host Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts 4-0 in non-conference action Tuesday evening. Senior
Sydney Cook (Waterville, NY/Waterville) led the Pioneers with two goals on the day.
Senior
Ro Hernandez (Carmel, NY/Kennedy Catholic) got things going in the 29
th minute as she netted her third of the year, assisted by
Jenna Keeman (Douglas, MA/Douglas). Cook netted her first of the day as she buried a feed from
Hope Millets (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) in the 37
th minute to give Utica a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
Cook extended UC's lead at 57:19 when she controlled a long pass by
Eliza Ericson (Beacon, NY/Beacon) and played it inside the left post for her third of the season. Cook now has eight points in the first two games of the season.
Utica capped off the scoring at 79:06 when
Katherine Migliori (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) controlled a pass from
Kiersten Girard (St. Albert, Alberta/Bellerose Composite) at the top left corner of the box and quickly turned and fired a shot that sailed over the keeper's head for her first of the season. The assist marked Girard's first collegiate point.
Freshman
Karen Troche (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) turned aside all three shots she faced to pick up her second straight shutout.
The Pioneers have now outscored their opponents 9-0 through the first two games of the season. They look to carry that momentum into the Blue Devil Classic at Fredonia this weekend. Utica takes on Oswego State in the opening game Friday at 1 p.m.
