Women's Basketball Remains Perfect with Thrilling Comeback Against Hartwick

UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's basketball team erased a 15-point deficit as it defeated Hartwick College 62-56 to improve to 12-0 on the year. 
 
Utica which is off to its best start to a season ever, has now matched the 1984-85 version of the Pioneers for the longest winning streak in program history.  UC will put it on the line Friday as it travels to No. 25 St. John Fisher College.  Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
 
The Pioneers shot just 31 percent in the first quarter and the Hawks made them pay as the visitors led 20-10 after ten minutes of action. Trailing 37-27 at halftime, Utica stormed back outscoring Hartwick 20-4 in the third quarter and held on in the fourth to move to 3-0 in Empire 8 play.  The Hawks shot nearly 55 percent in the first half and just 20 percent from the floor in the second half. 
 
Senior Sydney Przygoda (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) picked up her seventh double-double of the season as she netted a team-high 15 points and added 10 rebounds.  Przygoda needs just 10 more points to move into 10th place all-time in career scoring at UC.  Sophomore Krissy Geraci (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) finished with 14 points and seven boards while senior Petrina DeMarco (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) totaled a career-high eight steals and six assists to go along with her 12 points.
 
Cora Sawyer (New London, CT/New London) chipped in with 10 points and seven boards while also dishing out two assists and two steals.  Brigid Johndrow (Bristol, CT/St. Paul Catholic) and Kristine Miller (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook) meanwhile combined for 11 points in the win.
