UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's basketball team pulled away from visiting Houghton College as it downed the Highlanders 68-55 in and Empire 8 conference matchup Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Utica improves to 15-2 on the year and 6-2 in the E8. The Pioneers will have a week off before returning to Miga Court to host Russell Sage College. Â

Kristine Miller (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook) had a breakout performance for the Pioneers as she recorded career highs for points (16) and rebounds (16) en route to her first career double-double. Miller also led the squad with three blocks in the win.

Tied 31-31 at halftime, Utica wore the Highlanders down, outscoring the visitors 37-24 in the second half.Â

Sydney Przygoda (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) finished with another double-double, her ninth of the season, as she led all players with 24 points and added 10 rebounds. Przygoda also dished out five assists. Senior
Petrina DeMarco (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and sophomore
Krissy Geraci (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) each had eight points, while
Cora Sawyer (New London, CT/New London) had eight points, nine boards, and a team-high six assists to her credit.Â
