UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's basketball team came away with a thrilling 55-54 win over Sage College in Empire 8 Conference action Saturday afternoon.
With the win, Utica improves to 16-2 on the year (7-2 Empire 8). The Pioneers remain unbeaten at home this season as they move to 11-0 at Miga Court. UC returns to action Friday as it travels to Keuka college. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
A layup by Sage's Kyra Oeffler made it a one-point game with just 1:13 remaining. Sage had a chance to win the game, but a three-pointer just before the buzzer could not find the basket.

Cora Sawyer (New London, CT/New London) finished with a game-high 20 points, including going 9-for-9 on free throws, and she also tied for the team lead with eight rebounds. Graduate student
Brigid Johndrow (Bristol, CT/St. Paul Catholic) had 18 points and led the squad with three steals.

Petrina DeMarco (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) finished with six points, while both
Sydney Przygoda (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) and
Krissy Geraci (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) had four points and the duo combined for 15 rebounds. Kristine miller meanwhile had three points to her credit.
Sage had three players finish in the double-digits in points, led by Lauren Sanderson, who had 15 points on the afternoon thanks in part to shooting 3-for-5 from beyond the arc.
