KEUKA PARK, NY - Behind double-doubles by
Sydney Przygoda (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) and
Krissy Geraci (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia), the Utica College women's basketball team cruised past the Keuka College Wolves 63-32 on Friday evening.
The Pioneers jumped out of the gates early, scoring 27 points in the first quarter while holding the Wolves to 11. Utica shot 10-for-14 as a team over the first ten minutes with Przygoda netting eight of the team's points. Przygoda also had already secured a double-double by halftime with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Geraci also had seven points and boards going into the break with UC up 33-16 over Keuka.
Utica left behind its second quarter offensive struggles with a 17-point third quarter with Przygoda once again leading the way with six points. In all the Pioneers held the Wolves to 25 percent shooting on the evening while also out-rebounding them 54-30 en route to its eighth Empire 8 win over the season.
Przygoda finished the game with 18 points and 12 rebounds in what was her 10th double-double of the season. Geraci's third career double-double included 13 points and 13 rebounds over a team high 34 minutes of action.
Cora Sawyer (New London, CT/New London) neared the double-double party with nine points and eight rebounds while guard
Petrina DeMarco (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) totaled eight points while hitting two of the team's four three-pointers.
UC (17-2, 8-2 Empire 8) is back on the road at 2 p.m. tomorrow afternoon against Elmira College.
