Utica Upends Medaille in Monday Matinee

UTICA, NY- Ten different players found the back of the net as the Utica University men's lacrosse team cruised to a 20-1 win over visiting Medaille College in non-conference action Monday afternoon. 
 
Utica led from the beginning as freshman Connor Costanza (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park ) put the Pioneers on top just 2:46 into the game.  Utica went on to add seven more scores before the first quarter was over and took a 13-0 lead into halftime.  The Pioneers tacked on seven more goals in the second half to cement their second victory of the season.
 
Sophomore John Spoto (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon) led the way with six points on a team-high five goals and one assist.  Costanza meanwhile finished with four goals.  Sam Serrano (Stone Ridge, NY/Roundout Valley) (one goal, three assists) and John Avery (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon) (two goals, two assists) each finished with four points on the afternoon. 
 
Rajveer Singh (Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor) and Jack Hogan (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) buried two goals each, while Jonathan Chilinski (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook), Hayden Sachel (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley), Luke Rinaudo-Concessi (Babylon, NY/West Babylon), and Caiden Frey (Accord, NY/Roundout Valley) each had one goal.  Jon Goodspeed (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks), Patrick Oswald (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park ), and Owen Mix (Henrietta, NY/Rush Henrietta) all saw time in net, with Goodspeed getting credit for the win.  Teddy Kurdziel finished with 10 saves in net for the Mavericks.
 
The Pioneers hit the road for the first time on Wednesday as they travel to Neumann University.  Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
