Thomas Morreale (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) of the Utica University men's basketball team has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 3 Second Team, as announced by the NABC on Tuesday afternoon. The All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division III.

The junior finished the 2021-22 season as Utica's leading scorer netting 14.4 points per game on 57 percent shooting from the field and 55.6 percent shooting from three-point. His scoring average ranked eighth in the Empire 8 this season while his field goal percentage ranked third in the conference as well as 45th nationally. His three-point percentage would also top all of Division III if qualified (45-81). Morreale tied a career high in points this past season scoring 31 against Eureka College on Nov. 12 and set a new career best with five three-pointers made against Hamilton College on Dec. 4.Â

The Whitesboro native also nearly finished as the team's leading rebounder averaging 5.9 per game (
Kimedrick Murphy (Hudson, NY/Hudson) averaged six per game) and was also top-15 in the E8 in such category. He also totaled 1.2 blocks per game, eighth in the Empire 8, and 1.2 steals per game, 14th in the E8. He was also an All-Empire 8 First Team selection as well as a two-time Empire 8 Player of the Week honoree.Â

Morreale and the Pioneers ended the season 23-4 overall and 15-1 in Empire 8 play. Utica's 23 wins tied the program record for most in a single season while the 15 conference wins set a new program record.
