Women's Lacrosse Scores Early and Often to Down Manhattanville

PURCHASE, NY- The Utica University women's lacrosse team cruised to its third straight win Saturday as it topped host Manhattanville College 18-7 in non-conference action.   Eight different players scored for Utica, led by Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro), who had a game-high five goals. 
 
The Pioneers wasted little time getting things going as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 1:08 of play and tacked on five more tallies before Manhattanville got on the board with 4:25 remaining in the first quarter. 
 
Utica took a 10-2 lead after the first quarter and tacked on five more scores in the second stanza to take a commanding 15-2 lead into the locker room at halftime.  The Pioneers kept up the pressure in the second half as they cruised to their third victory of the season.
 
Scaccia's five goals was a season best so far this year and junior Samantha DeCondo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) finished with four points on three goals and one assist.  Graduate student Ashley Guerra (Ionia, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima ) also chipped in with three goals for the Pioneers.  Tracy Moreno (Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove) and Katie Crofoot (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) each found the back fo the net twice and Alyssa Drell (Mastic, NY/William Floyd) and Daniela Muscari (Millbrook, NY/Millbrook) netted one goal apiece while freshman Morgan Madore (Higganum, CT/Haddam-Killingworth) netted her first collegiate goal. 
 
Alyssa Pisano (Hopewell Junction, NY/Arlington) and Emily Rossi (Verona, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) aided the offense with three assists each.  Clair Frier and Shaylynn Palmer (Kirkville, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) combined for five saves in net for Utica.  Britney Sirota meanwhile had seven saves for the Valiants. 
 
The Pioneers (3-0) return to action Wednesday as they host Morrisville State.  Game time is 4 p.m.
