UTICA, NY - After nearly a week off from game action, the Utica University men's lacrosse team is set to travel to Union, New Jersey to take on Kean University at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Last Time Out: The Pioneers traveled to Wilkes University on March 26 to take on the Colonels and left with an 18-13 victory. At the end of the first half the Pioneers led a close matchup 10-8 and came out firing in the second. Utica outscored Wilkes 5-2 in the third period to successfully pull away from the Colonels. The winning effort was led by
Sam Serrano (Stone Ridge, NY/Roundout Valley), who had three of his career-high five goals in the second half.
Gage Fiacco (Massena, NY/Massena),
John Avery (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon), and
James Daniele (Pleasantville, NY/Pleasantville) all had three goals in the Pioneer win as well.
Ball Control: Jack Hogan (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) had an impressive day against Wilkes as he won 19 of his 23 faceoffs to help the Pioneers gain possession 82 percent of the time he was on the field. Hogan is second in the conference in face off win percentage this season at 64.8% and is third on the Pioneers with 22 ground balls. The Pioneers rank fourth in the Empire 8 conference with 243 ground balls so far.
Serrano Strikes Again: Sam Serrano (Stone Ridge, NY/Roundout Valley) is leading the Pioneers with 24 points this season consisting of 14 goals and 10 assists. After a career-high five goals against Wilkes, he is showing no signs of slowing down. Serrano also ranks 11th in the Empire 8 averaging 1.4 assists per game.
Scouting Kean: The Kean University Cougars are 4-2 so far this season with its last loss coming to nationally ranked No.18 Stevenson. Brady Moore is leading the third ranked scoring offense in the New Jersey Athletic Conference this season with 22 total points consisting of 17 goals and 5 assists. This will be just the second time the two teams will match up with the only previous meeting coming in 2014.
A Look Ahead: Utica will conclude its six-game road trip on Wednesday, April 6 as the team travels to Albany, NY to open up Empire 8 play against Russell Sage College. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
