UTICA, NY - The Utica University tennis team will host SUNY Oneonta on Wednesday, October 11 at 3:30 p.m. in its final match of the season.

Last Time Out: The team hosted Hartwick College on Sunday, October 8 and lost by a score of 8-1.Â

Where We Stand: The team has officially been eliminated from the Empire 8 Postseason Tournament as St. John Fisher University won the head-to-head match and had more league points after defeating Houghton University 9-0 and with Utica beating Russell Sage College 5-4.

Season Success: The trio of Ellen Lyga (New Hartford, NY/Notre Dame), Selma Dizdarevic (Utica, NY/Proctor), and Lyndsey Tiedemann (Salt Point, NY/Franklin D Roosevelt) have all done well this season, each winning at least four single matches this season. The doubles duo of Lyga and Isabella Bonapace (Leonia, NJ/Leonia) have been the team's best sporting a 4-3 record this season going against the opposing aces. Tiedemann and Callie Ott (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) have heated up as teammates winning two of their last three matches as a pair.

Scouting Oneonta: The Red Dragons are 6-5 this season and sport a 4-3 record in SUNYAC play. The team fell in a conference match to SUNY Geneseo 7-2 on Saturday, October 7. Sophia Schutte leads the way in singles with a 6-2 record while Brianna Shaw is also a force sporting a 5-2 record in singles. Oneonta has excelled in doubles play with five of its seven active players sporting a winning record. Schutte, Shaw, and Julia Holtermann each have at least four wins in doubles and are all key pieces of the team.
