ROCHESTER, NY - Hannah Young (Jordanville, NY/Little Falls) of the Utica University field hockey team has been named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday.
 
Young turned in a great week with an overall 1-1 record. She tallied eight saves on 20 shots faced while allowing just two goals over the course of the two games. The junior boasted a shutout Empire 8 victory over Elmira and has shined in her last three Empire 8 contests and is in great form ahead of the Empire 8 Postseason Tournament.
 
Young and the field hockey program will host Russell Sage College on Monday, October 30 at 4 p.m. to kick off the Empire 8 Conference Tournament.
