ROCHESTER, NY - Kooper Knabe (Cortland, NY/Cortland) of the Utica University baseball team has been named Empire 8 Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. 
 
Knabe shined in his second career start in Utica's 5-3 win over UMPI last week. The freshman picked up his second win of the season after going six innings allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out eight hitters and walking just one. 
 
It is Knabe's second Empire 8 weekly honor after earning E8 Pitcher of the Week two weeks ago. 
 
Knabe and the Pioneers travel to Onondaga Community College on Wednesday for a neutral site doubleheader against SUNY Canton.
