Box Score SCRANTON, PA - The Utica University men's lacrosse team fell on the road to the University of Scranton Royals 17-3 on Wednesday evening.
Luke Rinaudo-Concessi (Babylon, NY/West Babylon),
Sam Serrano (Stone Ridge, NY/Roundout Valley) and
Hayden Sachel (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) each netted one goal in the losing effort.
Sophomore
Patrick Oswald (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park) had a career-high 14 saves in the loss, making this his fourth game with over 11 saves on the season.
Ethan Brown (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) held Scranton's top point producer, Mitchell Kozak, to only one goal and two assists.
Scranton had ten different goal scorers led by Matthew McAree and Kyle Holmes with four each. Goalie Declan Allen made four saves and let one goal in just over a minute into the contest.
Utica jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, but the Scranton Royals struck back moments later tying the game at one. The Pioneers held the Royals to three goals in the second quarter going into halftime down 7-1. Scranton scored the next six goals to take a commanding 13-1 lead after the third.
In the fourth, the Pioneers netted two goals while the Royals added four of their own to come out with a 17-3 win.
Utica University (4-6, 0-0 Empire 8) returns to action Saturday as they open up conference play against Nazareth College at 3 p.m.
