UTICA, NY - The Utica University women's soccer team is set for its final road trip of the regular season for a non-conference matchup of the season against the St. Lawrence Saints, and to take on Empire 8 newcomer SUNY Brockport. The Pioneers travel to Canton, NY on Wednesday, October 23 with a game time set for 4pm, and travel to Brockport, NY on Saturday, October 26 with a game time set for 3pm.Â

Last Time Out: Finding the back of the net for Utica was Rylee Lamphere (Little Falls, NY/Dolgeville) for her third goal of the season. Leading the way for the Pioneers were Amber Piersma (Cassville, NY/Mount Markham) and Lamphere who each recorded three shots. Mackenzie Turner (Hamilton, NJ/The Hun School of Princeton) and Rory Richard (Barneveld, NY/Holland Patent) each recorded two, while Samantha Kogut (North Adams, MA/Drury) recorded one. Goalkeeper Emily Duro (Wappinger Falls, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) recorded five saves in the effort. The first shot of the game would come in the second minute off the foot of a Nazareth offender, but would sail just wide of the net, followed by another shot that would be swallowed up by Duro. It would be the eighth minute that Nazareth would find the back of the net, putting the Golden Flyers ahead at 1-0. Utica would not record a shot until the 14th minute off the foot of Richard. Less than 45 seconds later, Rylee Lamphere (Little Falls, NY/Dolgeville) would find the back of the net for the Pioneers sending one rifling past the Nazareth goalkeeper for her third tally of the season to knot the score at one a piece. Utica would rifle off four more shots for the remainder of the half, sending the Pioneers into the break in the midst of a 1-1 draw. The second half would see both teams vying for possession before Utica would be able to get a shot off in the 57th minute off the foot of Piersma. The Pioneers would not allow the Golden Flyers an opportunity to find the back of the net until the 65th minute, but it would be saved by Duro. Both teams would continue to fight for possession for the remainder of the half, but it would be Nazareth that would be the ones to squeak one by Duro to take the lead, and the win, 2-1

Goals Galore: Eight different Pioneers have found the back of the net this season. Amber Piersma (Cassville, NY/Mount Markham) leads the team in the goal column with six, followed by the trio of Bella Noble (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville), Rory Richard (Barneveld, NY/Holland Patent) and Rylee Lamphere (Little Falls, NY/Dolgeville) who have each netted three. Natalia Bell (Cortland, NY/Groton)a and Kayla Giovingo (Centereach, NY/Centereach) have each recorded two, while Samantha Kogut (North Adams, MA/Drury) and Mackenzie Turner (Hamilton, NJ/The Hun School of Princeton) have each netted one. The team's 22 goals ranks Utica sixth in the Empire 8 standings in goals, averaging just under one and a half goals per game.Â

Scouting the Saints: The St. Lawrence Saints have posted a 6-6-1 record on the season so far, and have posted a 1-4-1 record in Liberty League conference play. Grace Mochnal has been the Saints top playmaker, finding the back of the net five times this season. Mochnal has recorded 33 shots with 15 on goal this season. Meredith Donahue has also been generating offense for the Saints, tying Mochnal for the team lead in shots on goal with 15. Between the pipes for the Saints has been Darcie McDonough who has posted a .89 goals against average this season. McDonough has recorded 38 saves for a .792 save percentage. Last season, the Pioneers fell in their matchup against the Saints by a score of 3-0.Â

Breaking Down Brockport: The SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles are 12-1-1 in the regular season and have put up an 8-1 record in Empire 8 conference play. Jaylah Cossin is the team's leading goal scorer, finding the back of the net nine times for the Golden Eagles this season. Cossin also leads the team in shots with 49, 35 of which have fallen on goal for a .714 shots on goal percentage. Amelia Breton has also gotten the Brockport offense going, netting seven goals on 15 shots on goal. Brockport goalkeeper Madeline McCrosson has posted an impressive .33 goals against average this season, only allowing three goals in the duration of her 12 games played. McCrosson has made 25 saves for a .893 save percentage. This is the first time these two teams will be squaring off since 2018, with Brockport taking the matchup by a score of 1-0.Â
