UTICA, NY - Zachary Accetta (Rocky Point, NY/Rocky Point) and Mia Benincasa (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) have been selected as the Pioneer Athletes of the Week for the week of October 28th. 

Accetta had a stellar start in goal during the Pioneers' midweek tilt against a tough NESCAC foe in Hamilton College. The standout Sophomore recorded 11 saves on the day, the most by any Pioneer goalkeeper this season. He also saved shots at an 88% rate during the non-conference contest, securing a solid individual performance. The Pioneers' last bastion fared very well in a match that saw him face 27 shots.

Accetta's Men's Soccer team will participate in their final 2024 contest this Wednesday at 7:00 PM when they visit Keuka.

Benincasa had another great offensive week as she added to an already outstanding rookie resume with a goal and an assist during her two Empire 8 matchups on Wednesday and Saturday. Benincasa had the lone Pioneer tally on Wednesday against Hartwick, and assisted teammate Alyssa Pisano (Hopewell Junction, NY/Arlington) on Saturday against Brockport to earn her three points on the week. The standout newcomer now places thirteenth in the conference for goals with eight, and 15th in the conference for points with 19, high marks for a player undergoing their first year of collegiate field hockey.

Benincasa's Field Hockey squad will welcome the Russell Sage Gators to Casamento Field on Saturday for their final contest of the year. That game will take place at 11:00 AM.
