UTICA, NY - The Utica University women's soccer team dropped its conference matchup 2-1 against the SUNY Geneseo Knights on Saturday afternoon.

Kayla Giovingo (Centereach, NY/Centereach) was the team's only goal scorer. Rylee Lmaphere,
Rory Richard (Barneveld, NY/Holland Patent),
Cora Kraft (Poughquag, NY/Arlington),
Bella Noble (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville), and
Amber Piersma (Cassville, NY/Mount Markham) had at least one shot.Â

Courtney Connolly (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) started in goal for the Pioneers, making four saves, two in the first and three in the second.

Both teams had six shots and all three goals were scored in the first half. Geneseo scored 45 seconds into the match as Juliette Frischmann gave a beautiful pass to Abby Foster, who scored her fourth goal of 2024. The Knights would keep the pressure on as they struck again with 27 minutes to play, taking a 2-0 lead. Giovingo notched her second goal of the season just before the first half ended, as Geneseo would take a 2-1 lead into halftime. This is Giovingo's second goal in three games, along with a shot in three consecutive matches.

Utica and Geneseo played a tight second half, combining for 12 shots. The Knights had six corner kicks in the half compared to Utica's three. Geneseo would hold on and win 2-1.
