UTICA, NY - The Utica University gymnastics team is set for a busy weekend traveling to face SUNY Brockport on Friday, March 1 at 6 p.m. before clashing at SUNY Cortland on Sunday, March 3 at 1 p.m.

Last Time Out: The team fell to Rhode Island College 190.475 to 183.100 on Sunday, February 18.
Alexis Castellaneta (Watkins Glen, NY/Watkins Glen) continued her floor exercise dominance fresh off her Gymnastics-Now.com Gymnast of the Week honors earning a 9.750 to finish fourth in the event.
Grace Marra (St. James, NY/Smithtown East) also did splendidly, turning in a 9.675 to finish sixth. The duo of
Alexis Castellaneta (Watkins Glen, NY/Watkins Glen) and
Grace Marra (St. James, NY/Smithtown East) shined again in the vault taking home the top two spots. Castellaneta scored a 9.650 with Marra earning a 9.600.
Madison Reed (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) and
Ryli McGorry (Orefield, PA/Parkland) were not far behind, each scoring a 9.350 wrapping up a successful event for the Pioneers. Marra also did great in the balance beam recording a wonderful 9.525 which was the third best mark in the event.
Haley Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) finished tied for fifth with an impressive 9.425.
Olivia Rosen (Massapequa, NY/Plainedge) and
Christina Troche (Manalapan, NJ/Saint John Vianney) were the top two finishers for Utica in the uneven bars event with Rosen earning an 8.975 and Troche an 8.875. Marra and Castellaneta finished three-four in the all-around results with Marra totaling a 37.450 and Castellaneta earning a 37.200.

Taking the Leap: Utica turned in its season-best performances in the vault led by Castellaneta and Marra who took home the top two spots. Castellaneta turned in a 9.600 with Marra finishing right behind at 9.500.

Keeping it Balanced: The team continues to do well on the balance beam led by the duo of
Grace Marra (St. James, NY/Smithtown East) and
Haley Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy). Marra turned in a 9.525 at Rhode Island College and was the second meet in a row where she has eclipsed that mark. Miller turned in her second consecutive 9.425 on the beam and has been very consistent for the Pioneers this season.

Meet Me on the Floor: The Pioneers have had some of their best success in the floor routine led by Castellaneta and Marra. The duo churned in top-six finishes with each scoring at least a 9.675 and have been earning Utica crucial points in the floor exercise all season long.

Scouting the Golden Eagles: Brockport is enjoying a fantastic season with a 15-1 record and in the middle of a nine meet win streak. The team topped Springfield College 193.700 to 189.625 in its last outing on Sunday, February 25. The team is led by Lienna Kay who set the program beam record with an outstanding 9.900 after recording a 9.875 in the prior meet. Maren Eramo and Emma Grace Sargent are two standouts in the vault after each earning a 9.725 or better their last time out. Laken Sooy, Kiara Hockman, Natalie Galioto, and Maya Pecoraro are more names to watch out for with each performing well on the beam.

Looking at the Red Dragons: Cortland is coming off a 192.10 to 190.00 loss to Ithaca College on Sunday, February 25. Rianna Adams is fresh off a season-high 9.70 on the uneven bars. Kathryn McSweeney and Rory Allan are two more names to look out for with McSweeney doing well in the bars event and Allan coming off a career-best 9.725 on the vault. Gianna Mirigliano turned in a great meet with three top-six finishes that were highlighted by a 9.75 on the balance beam and 9.70 on the floor exercise.Â
Up Next: The team will travel to Ithaca, NY for the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association East Regional on Saturday, March 9 at 1 p.m.
