POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Utica University baseball team showed out in their 11-2 win over Vassar College on Sunday afternoon.
Frederick Callo Jr. (Milton, NY/Marlboro) picked up his first win of the season while striking out eight batters.
Jack Scanlon (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute) led Utica's offense with three hits, two runs and two RBI's.
Jason Story (Hilton, NY/Hilton),
Josh Duval (Utica, NY/Proctor) and
Joe Crossley (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) each had a day churning out a trio of hits.

John Longeretta (Oriskany, NY/Oriskany) each scored twice.
Callo Jr. had a dominant day on the bump, pitching seven innings, allowing two runs, both earned, on seven hits, one walk and striking out eight batters to earn his first win of the season.
In the top of the 2nd inning, Callo Jr. pitched a 1-2-3 inning , getting the middle half of the Brewers lineup out. Utica and Vassar would head into the third inning scoreless.
The Brewers struck first in the bottom of the 5th on a J. Bergman single, scoring Barrientos as Vassar jumped out to a 1-0 lead. Utica would answer right back on a
Dom Fasolo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) sacrifice fly, scoring Longeretta and advancing Crossley to third base to tie the game at one run apiece.
Following that Utica would keep its foot on the gas as Scanlon singled, driving in Crossley to make it a 2-1 Pioneer advantage in the 6th.
Vassar responded in the bottom of the 6th on a sacrifice fly, driving in one run and tying the game at two.
Utica's bats started to get hot in the top frame of the 7th inning as
Andrew Salbinski (Essex, CT/Valley Regional) doubled to right field, collecting two RBI's, scoring Crossley and Longeretta. Scanlon registered another hit, driving in Salbinski to give Utica a 7-2 lead. Duval continued to get on base as he singled to left center, advancing Scalfani to second and scoring Scanlon as the Pioneers would increase their lead to 8-2. The damage wasn't done as Story singled, driving in Duval and Sclafani to make it 10-2 in the 7th.
The Pioneers added an insurance run in the 9th as
Jacob Scalise (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) grounded out to plate Scanlon and make it an 11-2 game which would stand as the game's final score.
Utica (10-20, 4-7 Empire 8) will take a short trip to Marcy, NY to face SUNY Poly on Wednesday, April 24 at 4 p.m.
