UTICA, NY - The Utica University women's track and field team will travel to SUNY Cortland for the All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field Conference Outdoor Championships starting on Wednesday, May 15 at noon and continuing Thursday, May 16 at 10 a.m.

Last Time Out:  The team completed day two of the Farley Inter Regional Meet hosted by Williams College on Saturday, May 11. Hannah Allison (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer) stole the show in the high jump while tying the school record. Allison's high jump of 1.60m is also now a new personal best. In the shot put, Jane Fahy (Oriskany, NY/MVCC/Oriskany) threw 13.91m to place second. Allie Cary (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) threw a mark of 11.68 meters to place seventh. In the 100m hurdles, the Pioneers secured a pair of top ten finishes. Stefania Grimaldi (Poland, NY/Poland Central) was ninth (16.22), and Alyssa Youngs (Constableville/West Canada Valley) was 10th (16.39).
 
Field Athlete of The Week: Hannah Allison (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer) was named the Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. Allison stole the spotlight in the high jump while tying the school record at the Farley Inter Regional Meet hosted by Williams College on Saturday, May 11. Allison's high jump of 1.60m is now a new personal best and would sit in a tie for 12th among AARTFC competitors based on performance lists from the start of Saturday's competition. She was fourth against a challenging field while tying the second highest mark before tiebreakers were enacted to determine a finish order. 
 
In The Polls: In the current regional rankings that came out on Tuesday, May 14, the Pioneers are currently ranked eighth with 386.22 points. This is a one spot decrease from last week's rankings, and Utica remains the highest ranked Empire 8 team. Some of the team's top point scorers include Mackenzie Mix (Camden, NY/Camden) (86.30), Jane Fahy (Oriskany, NY/MVCC/Oriskany) (58.24), Zeniyah Gholson (Monticello, NY/Monticello) (47.91), Alyssa Youngs (Constableville/West Canada Valley) (44.64), and Nora Devitt (Beverly, MA/Beverly) (41.19).
 
Last Year at Regionals: The team competed at the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championships hosted by Susquehanna University last May and placed 18th with 15 points. Jane Fahy (Oriskany, NY/MVCC/Oriskany) won Utica's lone championship title of the meet on day two with a shot put mark for the ages. Fahy held total control of the field with the best mark in all six rounds of throws, including at the time a school-record 13.84 meter heave on her final attempt to place her stamp on victory. Laura Meade (Glenville, NY/Scotia-Glenville) set a new program benchmark in the heptathlon with a personal best 4,027 points to place fifth in a sixteen-competitor field. Over the course of two days, she had the fastest 200 meter time in the field which netted her one of the highest single-event point hauls of the competition at 824 points. That time was a personal best along with ranking her as the third-fastest 200 meter performer in school history. Mackenzie Mix (Camden, NY/Camden) secured a podium position in the women's 400 hurdles with a time of 1:04.87 to place eighth and get on the podium. Jade Dening (Remsen, NY/Remsen) was another top-10 finisher for the Pioneers in the 3,000m steeplechase as she came in ninth with a time of 11:49:59. In the 100m, Mix finished 16th with a time of 12.70 seconds.
