ROCHESTER, NY - After a dominant, multi-day performance at the Empire 8 Outdoor Track & Field Championships,
Allie Cary (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) has been named Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Week, while also earning Field Athlete of the Meet honors.
Cary delivered across both days of competition, opening her weekend on Friday with a strong showing in the hammer throw. Cary recorded a mark of 45.76 meters to place fourth overall, setting the tone early and adding five points to the Pioneers' total .
She followed that performance with a dominant Saturday, sweeping both throwing events to cement her status as the top field competitor at the meet. Cary captured gold in the shot put with a winning toss of 13.10 meters, leading the field and securing 10 team points. She then doubled up in the discus, unleashing a meet-best throw of 42.72 meters to take first place and add another 10 points to her total.
Across the weekend, Cary totaled 25 points for Utica, playing a pivotal role in the Pioneers' fourth-place team finish. Her pair of conference titles, combined with contributions in all three throwing events, highlighted one of the most complete performances of the championship and earned her recognition as the meet's top field athlete.
Cary and the Pioneers will be back in action this week as the team travels to Williamstown, MA for the Farley Inter Regional, hosted by Williams College. Start time on Friday, May 8 is set for 12pm.Â
