Six from Women's Track & Field Capture USTFCCCA All-Niagara Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS, LA - Six members of the Utica University women's outdoor track & field team captured U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Niagara Region honors.

The top-five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-three ranked relay team.

Hannah Allison's (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer) mark of 1.60m in the high jump at the Farley Inter Regional Extravaganza on May 10 placed her fifth in the Niagara Region. That performance also tied the program high jump record. In her first outdoor season, Allison captured the Empire 8 high jump title before going on to compete at the AARTFC Championships last week.

Allie Cary (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) finished her first outdoor season with the region's third best discus mark, hitting a program record 44.02m at the AARTFC Championships last week for a fifth place finish. Cary totaled five individual discus wins this year while placing top-five in each of her nine meets competing in the discus. Out of the nine meets, the freshman only failed to reach 40.00m one time which came in her first career outdoor meet on March 30.

Nora Devitt's (Beverly, MA/Beverly) runner-up finish at the Empire 8 Championships in early May placed her fifth in the Niagara Region with a 11.35m mark in the triple jump. She placed top-five in each triple jump event she competed in this past season, including three wins. Devitt never had a distance under 11.00m this year as well.

Jane Fahy (Oriskany, NY/MVCC/Oriskany) cleared the rest of the region by over 1.00m in the shot put as her 14.77m toss at the 2024 Capital District Classic at RPI on April 26 topped the Niagara Region. That same throw also set new program and Empire 8 Conference records while coming in as the fourth best mark in NCAA Division III. The All-American went on to capture the Empire 8 and AARTFC shot put championships and will now look towards competing at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at 4 p.m. on Friday.

Zeniyah Gholson's (Monticello, NY/Monticello) Empire 8 championship distance of 11.36m was the fourth top mark in the region and guided her to All-Niagara Region honors. She improved her distance each meet this season, leading up to winning the Empire 8 triple jump title. Gholson also placed within the top-three in each of the five meets she competed in the triple jump.

Mackenzie Mix (Camden, NY/Camden) finished her junior outdoor season with the fifth fastest 100m mark in the region. Mix clocked a 12.21 at the 2024 Capital District Classic at RPI on April 26. The following week she captured the Empire 8 championship before placing seventh at regionals last week. Leading up to regionals, Mix placed first or second in each 100m event she raced in, including preliminaries.
