UTICA, NY - The Utica University women's tennis team is set for two matches this week. The team will host SUNY Cortland on Tuesday, October 1 in a non-conference matchup at 4:00 before traveling to St. John Fisher on Saturday, October 5 with a start time that is yet to be determined.

In singles play, Paetra Heeren (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley), Callie Ott (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy), Lyndsey Tiedemann (Salt Point, NY/Franklin D Roosevelt), and Victoria Elefante (Clinton, NY/Clinton) each recorded a game win in their sets. In doubles, the duo of Tiedemann and Heeren won a game of their set.

In singles play, Jackie Roberts (Herkimer, NY/Notre Dame) and Victoria Elefante (Clinton, NY/Clinton) put up a game win in their sets. Lyndsey Tiedemann (Salt Point, NY/Franklin D Roosevelt) put up a good fight, winning two games of her first set and three games of the second set. In doubles play, the duo of Elefante and Tiedemann won two games of their set, and the duo of Callie Ott (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) and Paetra Heeren (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) won one game of their set.
 
About Cortland: The SUNY Cortland Red Dragons are currently 3-3 on the season. In third singles, Emma Madigan is currently 5-1 and undefeated in SUNYAC play. In first singles Christina Massoni currently sits at 3-3. In doubles play, the duo of Madigan and Massoni are 4-2 in first doubles. This is the first time that Cortland and Utica will be squaring off on the tennis courts. 
 
Looking at Fisher: The St. John Fisher Cardinals are 2-3 overall and 2-1 in Empire 8 Conference play. The Cardinals defeated Houghton University and SUNY Brockport. Last season's matchup was a close loss for the Pioneers with Fisher taking the last matchup 5-4.
