CORTLAND, NY - The Utica University men's wrestling team was led by
Trevor Cortright (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) in the SUNYAC Championships at 133lbs on Saturday afternoon. Cortright took first place overall and went 4-0. He is the first-ever conference champion in the program's two years of existence.

After not competing since the Oneonta Tri-Meet on December 14, Cortright was dominant in the 133lb weight class, only allowing four points against him in four matches.

Cortright defeated Derek Bernardino 7-0 by decision, totaling two takedowns and one escape to secure the championship.

Cortright cruised along in his first match, defeating Kedricks Pellicci of Ithaca 12-0. In the second round, he dominated Ariel Waldman of Oneonta State 14-0. In the semifinal, Cortright defeated Lawrence Liss 16-4.

James Post (Ilion, NY/Ilion) (149lb) defeated Phillip Venne of Oneonta State by decision. He recorded two takedowns in his 6-1 victory.

Hunter Morton (Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Hills) (157lb) secured a 10-0 major decision over Dom Parente of SUNY Brockport. Morton registered one takedown, one near fall and one reversal.

Seth Richardson (Fort Plain, NY/Fort Plain) (165lb) defeated Will Lotocky of SUNY Brockport 8-1 by decision.
 Utica travels to Alfred State for duals on Saturday, February 1 at 7 p.m.
