UTICA, NY - The Utica University gymnastics team set a new program record with a combined team score of 188.275 at home on Saturday evening. The Pioneers took home second place behind Cortland (189.025). Ithaca took third with a score of 186.025 and Ursinus took fourth with a score of 185.125.
As a team, Utica scored a 46.975 on vault to take third in the event as a team. On the uneven bars, Utica finished with a score of 46.600 to finish second in the event. On the balance beam , the Pioneers finished with a score of 47.025 to take home first place as a team in the event, and a 47.675 on the floor to finish third in the event as a team.
In the All Around,
Emmy Graff (Boulder, CO/Connections) took second place with a combined score of 38.450. On vault, Graff scored a 9.500, on bars she scored a 9.625, on beam she scored a 9.550, and on floor she scored a 9.775.
Grace Marra (St. James, NY/Smithtown East) took third place in the All Around with a combined score of 37.775. On vault, Marra scored a 9.525, on bars she scored a 8.900, on beam she scored a 9.600, and on floor she scored a 9.750.
On vault, Marra was the Pioneers top finisher taking home sixth place with her score of 9.525. Graff was the second highest finisher with a score of 9.500.
Madison Villani (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) scored a 9.450 in the event, while
Jenna DiPalo (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) scored a 9.175. Rounding out the scorecard for the Pioneers in the vault was
Aubrey Hughes (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) with a score of 8.600.
On the uneven bars, Graff was the team's top finisher in a tie for second place with a score of 9.625.
Christina Troche (Manalapan, NJ/Saint John Vianney) was the team's second highest finisher in a tie for fourth place with a score of 9.525.
Alyssa Langston (Pearland, TX/Pearland) scored a 9.425 in the event to tie for ninth place while
Kaitlyn Vaz (Salem, OR/Baker Early College) scored a 9.125. Marra scored an 8.900 in the event and
Ainsley Pinckard (Pflugerville, TX/St. Dominic Savio Catholic) rounded out the scorecard in the event with a score of 8.450.
On the balance beam, Marra was the team's top finisher with a fifth place score of 9.600. Graff was the team's second best finish with a score of 9.550. Pinckard shined in the event with a score of 9.375 to take home eighth place. DiPalo scored a 9.350 while Langston recorded a 9.150. Rounding out the scorecard for the Pioneers was
Abigail Walters (Lake Grove, NY/The Stony Brook School) with a score of 7.575.
In the floor exercise, Graff led the Pioneers with a score of 9.775. Marra was not too far behind Graff with a score of 9.750.
Emily Plone (Hudson, OH/Hudson) and
Julia Pecora (Drums, PA/Hazleton Area) finished their routines with scores of 9.450 and 9.425 respectively. Rounding out the scorecard for the Pioneers in the event were Addison Ferri with a score of 9.275 and Walters with a score of 8.775.
Utica now travels to Piscataway, NJ to take on the Rutgers February Quad, hosted by NCAA Division I Rutgers University. Other teams in attendance will include NCAA Division I University of Maryland and NAIA Fisk University. Start time in the Jersey Mike's Arena is set for 1pm.
