Lyndsey Tiedemann (Salt Point, NY/Franklin D Roosevelt) and
Byamungu Mugushu (Syracuse, NY/Bishop Grimes) have been named the Pioneer Athletes of the Week for the week of October 13th, 2025. For Mugushu, this is his second honor of the season. For Tiedemann, this is her first Pioneer Athlete of the Week honor this season.
Tiedemann was integral to the Pioneers' 7-0 win over Russell Sage this past Wednesday, getting the job done in both the #1 singles match as well as the #1 doubles match. Alongside
Kimora-Lee Simmons (Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor), Tiedemann was able to defeat the pair of Cami Lamora and Annabella Putnam by a 6-1 decision. In the singles portion of the match, Tiedemann defeated Putnam in straight sets, winning 6-2 in both of her games to help the Pioneers achieve a big sweep of their Empire 8 opposition.Â
Tiedemann and the tennis team wrapped up their season this past weekend, falling to Brockport but still ending on a high note thanks to the big win against Russell Sage.
Mugushu continued his epic season and career with a four-goal performance over the Pioneers' last two games. The Utica forward scored a hat trick in their 10/8 home match with Russell Sage. This was the second of his career and his third multi-goal game of the 2025 season. Mugushu added a goal on a penalty kick in the team's most recent matchup, bringing his career points total to 78 and tying Utica's program record.
Mugushu and the men's soccer team will continue their Empire 8 campaign this Wednesday at Hartwick, before welcoming Nazareth to Casamento Field this Saturday.Â
